Interesting New Developments

Upon coming home tonight, I decided I wanted to check out something new on my PC. Apparently, for whatever reason, it has just now decided that it has finally had enough, and crapped out. It turns on, but gives no monitor input. I’ve tried switching cables, and monitors, and, well, nothing comes of it. This leads me to believe that the video card has failed, all of a sudden, after four years. Unfortunately without any goddamn video input I can’t do anything to fix it short of ordering a new one.

Seriously, though, I wish things would just fucking work. You know, once in a while.

I wonder if this could be related to the power surge that knocked us out of the ODST game last night? You remember – before the time that Weevin’s 360 freaked out and kicked us from that other ODST game.

You might just want to run through this: http://www.fonerbooks.com/video.htm . It’s helped me in the past.

And hey, on the bright side, this is kind of forcing your hand into upgrading your computer finally. I mean, it certainly sucks, but there’s nothing quite as motivating having your PC suddenly rendered inoperable. Actually, this reminds me: I really need to clear off my hard drive sooner or later, and maybe get some more RAM…

It definitely could have been the power surge that did it, but since no one was home at the time there’d be no way of telling.

I checked both VGA cables, and both monitors, and they both work on other systems, as well as working on my system in the past, so it must be the computer itself.

But yes, I was thinking the same thing too, about the new parts. Fortunately, since it either could be the video card, motherboard, or possibly the power supply, I’m not really making a huge gamble since I’m replacing it all anyway. So yes, good motivator, and it’s not the end of the world.
