A new recruit?

I’ve been talking to Mike about D&D. He shows possible interest in joining our party. He has been reading the books and has ideas of a character. Would we be able to get him in sometime? He is looking at 4.0

Peske? Hell yes.
Word sonn. I think he’s leaning towards like a half-elf fighter of cleric.
Any plans on how to work him into the campaign? I mean, this coming Monday/Tuesday will probably be taken up by the Dream campaign, which is limited to the four of us. Ben and Matt, you’re both working on longer-term stuff. Is there anything you’d like to get rolling immediately which could involve a Peske?
I have (successfully! And this is important later.) read all of the Core books as of 1:00am this morning, and can safely say that I understand, am comfortable with, and am pleased with the 4.0 Ruleset. Huzzah! Encounter crafting has already begun, and characters with (quite surprisingly) complete biographies line the pages of my little notebook.
Regarding Zach’s query: I don’t think I would particularly mind if Peske joined us: indeed, he would be an admirable addition to the team in general, but by the same token I’ve really enjoyed D&D as a way for our main little group (that is to say, us four) to get together, shoot the breeze, and have a good time, much as we used to do the same with Starcraft, Eve, Garry’s MOd, and the like. I mean, we’ve been friends since Elementary school, ein’t we? And o’course, Mike’s been involved in these events as well, but not to the same extent as we have (at least, in my impression.)
Now, I’ve been thinking, and I says to myself, Self: I think that a good middle-ground in all this would be to incorporate our wider-array of friends (Mikey et all potentially) into the campaign as reoccurring allies that they design, but could be filed away if (and when, I’m sure) we/they all can’t get together, or if we are on a particularly involved adventure with just us (i.e. the Dream, etc.). Of course, they can be factored into the larger plot, no problem; everyone remembers Badger, Tracey, and Saffron: Defiantly reoccurring but not necessarily consistent.
I don’t have anything invented by -this- point, but to be sure, NPCs that I’ve designed could be adapted…. I think I’m liking what I’m seeing, in all this.
This is just something that popped into my head while I was spraying dishes today: What if there were a cadre of (almost comically) zealous soldiers who go from place to place “fighting crime?” You know, really enthusiastically. Maybe they wear capes, or have a theme song or something. Peske could be with them – joining and leaving our lives on a whim as he chases down the evildoer du jour.
I am all for keeping it mostly in the group. Mike would be a sometimes food.
I think he would like the random pop in and out cape warrior. Don Quixote?
He really wants to be a dashing ha HA sort of fellow. I’m sure we can figure this out in more detail soon to come.
